Re-discovery of the Classics

I got to see the Borden & Busse sales management movies while at FMS (81-83). These were classic movies that must have groomed the earlier generation of sales professionals - and there content would be just as applicable now - nearly 6 decades later!

I remember that I had taken a video adaption when I had accessed this content for a corporate training in '89 for Blue Star Ltd. Over 2 decades later, I discovered the video cassettes lying in my library earlier last year. And was finally able to convert it to a reasonable quality CD earlier this week.

Spent most of last night and this morning going thru the classics. Definitely, the originals (1956) have lost some quality in their transition from 16mm film to VHS to CD! However, most of the content was useable. Sharing the list of the additional videos that have added to my library:
Condition : Reasonably fine for public view
------------------------------------------
Opening the sale
Overcoming Objections
Closing the sale

Condition: Partly damaged
----------------------------
How to add fire to your sales presentation
Autopsy of a lost sale

With this retrieval, we have now over 30+ sales and mgt videos to power our trainings...and I am sure more will come by-and-by...

SMILE - the leadership program

Delhi based SMILE foundation was holding a workshop for it's downstream NGO activists. The goal was to imbibe a leadership, self-sustaining culture in the participants. And I was asked to deliver a 1 hour session which was converted to a full day session for the teams after I made the prelim presentation to the management.

The session was warmly received and their was an active participation from the audience as we went thru exercises, simulations and management principles for NGOs ... and life success....

And If I contributed to their thought process, these social entrepreneurs have catalysed in me the thought of contributing to the society as well. Watch this space for more information...

Taking wings...

Last year post leaving HP has been a fascinating adventure - one, in which, I found my wings and took my first flights in my passion area of trainings and marketing services. One of the highlights of the training practise has been to develop customised training programs for discerning clients. Negotiation Skills program - Getting to Yes, was an adaption of a Harvard Negotiation Skills initiative that was customised with role plays and simulations. Among the first clients of this program (Getting to Yes...) were the PC Solutions Pvt Ltd team persons. The program was executed at Hotel Claremont, Gurgaon with a flair in November end. And we have followed up with an OMR based event report + pdf notes to the user base. We expect to add f/thru content and sessions...and the focus is on inculcating the process so that it comes naturally in field situations...
